Have you heard? We are MOVING to downtown Portland. After 2.5 years in South Portland, our landlord has raised the rent and we are taking this as an opportunity to bring our mission to the peninsula!
This means we will be renting others’ spaces in order to offer our programming. Which means WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to ensure that we have sufficient funding for our Spring season. This includes space rental fees, performance venue fees, artist fees, and travel. We are entirely volunteer-run and all of our classes are pay-what-you-can. Therefore, we rely on your generosity to move forward.
Why is this important? The Living Room is the premier postmodern and experimental dance collective in Maine providing cutting edge programming to all levels of movers and artist residencies to burgeoning dance makers.
Our keystone CLASS, Moving Target Portland brings 20 visiting artists to Maine every year to teach in our Sunday class series where students learn the research methods and practices of guest artists.
We also offer SPELL (South Portland Experimental Language League), an inclusive, feminist and queer-positive movement class and regular Contact Improvisation classes and jams.
In addition, we host regular PERFORMANCES including works-in-progress from visiting guest artists, full evenings, and Kaleidoscope, a performance party that defies definition.
Join us at the NEXT Kaleidoscope on DECEMBER 15 at 7:30PM in celebration of The Living Room and a farewell to 408 Broadway before we move to Portland.
KALEIDOSCOPE is a museum of performance and a community dance party. Sound, video, and choreography are arranged throughout the space so that each audience member has a unique experience all their own.
ALL PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT LIVING ROOM PROGRAMMING
The Living Room is in the process of applying to become a nonprofit and therefore donations are not tax deductible at this time. Thank you for your generosity!
